Ananda Nahu was born in Juazeiro, in Bahia, Brazil, in 1985. She moved to Salvador in 2001, andin 2003 she attended The College of Design and in 2004 attended the Fine Arts School at the Federal University of Bahia. During this period, she became interested in studying photography, Fine Arts Paintings and engravings, inspired by studies and research of lithography, Serigraphs, metal engraving, and consequently a deeper study of posters, the main references for herengraving techniques.

In 2005 she began to develop the stencil, one of the oldest types of engraving, that is leaked into amold to obtain shapes and pictures. Using the same idea of engraving, fitting colors of the pictures, she applied this combination on the stencil and began to work with multiple layers of color.

This period was marked by the creation of hundreds of stencils with different sizes with unique free hand paintings in the backgrounds for each piece of art, creating artistic and dynamic compositions in urban environments, murals in the cities, at the same time developing sophisticated and detailed Fine Arts works on canvases, where she began to mix many painting techniques with the most diverse types of materials. The stencil technique, and its wide application in various areas throughout time, was the way in which Ananda found to understand and study how the free hand painting works, and the development of other techniques and painting materials, allowed Ananda to have full mastery of many techniques of artistic expression in painting.

Therefore, the mixture of styles, colors, visual aspects, paintings techniques and diversity in the use of materials is a striking feature in the work of Ananda. The process of creation and execution of her paintings unites digital manipulation, followed by physical and manual creation of the works, and modernity with the handmade process. Attached to this idea, we can see the strong thought of integrating cultures and peoples, cultural references from ancient times to the present day, harmoniously working and interacting together in the same composition, where all elements of different aspects come together for a single purpose : the creation of Works of Art, where the plurality of shapes, colors, styles, cultures and peoples, are peacefully integrated into a single composition, united with characters that transmit messages of strength, beauty and positivitythat reflects all of the beautiful and divine nature of the human being.

In order for all references to collaborate positively with each other, they are modified and filtered through the eyes of Ananda and changed by her own cultural background, herself originating from a tropical country, very warm and effervescent, where the diversity of nature and races is the main characteristic ; this serves as a medium to transform and reinterpret the whole structure of the artistic / cultural aspects chosen, in order to modernize them and directs them to the contemporary reality of society.

Thereby, Ananda Nahu creates a human work, sensitive and delicate to look at, respecting the diverse facets of artistic events in human history, and adding vibrant colors and dynamic forms, giving warmth, life, strength and energy to the composition of her works.

Ananda is currently living in Rio de Janeiro. In 2015, she was selected by CNN Style as one of the most influential artist in Brazil, and in 2016 broke the record in the United States for having painted the longest mural in the state of Ohio.
